Draft Environmental Assessment and Initial Study with Proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration.
The project proposes to replace the Elk Creek Bridge on State Route (SR) 1 at post mile 31.5 in Mendocino County. The proposed project would widen the bridge on both sides to accommodate two 12-foot wide lanes, two 4-foot wide shoulders, and one 6-foot wide separated pedestrian walkway on the west side of the bridge. A temporary,one lane bridge would be installed on the east side of the existing bridge to provide alternating one way access for through traffic during the 2 season construction period. Once the replacement bridge is completed, traffic will be moved to the new bridge and the new temporary bridge will be removed.
