Document Description
MWA and KCWA are SWP Contractors that receive imported water deliveries from the SWP. MWA and KCWA each have water supply contracts with DWR for water from the SWP. MWA will make available 7,184 acre-feet (AF) of its SWP water to four member units of KCWA (Belridge Water Storage District [“BWSD”], Berrenda Mesa Water District [“BMWD”], Lost Hills Water District [“LHWD”], and Wheeler Ridge-Maricopa Water Storage District [“WRMWSD”]) in accordance with Article 56(c) of MWA’s water supply contract with DWR. The water included in this transfer is a portion of the Article 56 Carryover Water storage available to MWA in 2021. The water will be used to meet current year shortages within the four cited Member Units within KCWA. Water will be delivered using existing SWP facilities, and in a manner similar to other deliveries from the SWP

Because all of the water delivered to the Four Member Units of KCWA from MWA pursuant to this Transfer will be delivered through existing facilities, without the construction of additional facilities to affect such deliveries, the transfer of water described herein constitutes a project that is exempt from CEQA pursuant to Section 15301(b) (Use of Existing Facilities) of the State CEQA Guidelines.
