State code number: Public Resources Code Section 4799.05(d)(1)
Reasons for Exemption
CEQA does not apply to prescribed fire, thinning, or fuel reduction projects undertaken on federal lands to reduce the risk of high-severity wildfire that have been reviewed under the NEPA if the primary role of a state or local agency is providing funding or staffing for those projects. The SNC would provide funding for fuels reduction treatments on at least 41 acres of federal land under BLM jurisdiction. The proposed activities were reviewed in their entirety under NEPA in the Tiger Creek Fuels Reduction and Watershed Protection Project Environmental Assessment, Decision Record, and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI). The Decision Record/FONSI for the Tiger Creek Fuels Reduction and Watershed Protection Project was signed by BLM on August 22, 2019.
