Document Description
The UCCE Prescribed Burn Association Training Burn Project proposes to conduct an education training for prescribed burns at the Watsonville Slough Farm, a property owned by the Land Trust of Santa Cruz County. The project will include a prescribed burn at two separate, approximately 6-acre sites on the property conducted under the coordination by a certified burn boss. All documents and plans, including burn, safety and smoke plan, will be reviewed and approved by CalFire prior to conducting the prescribed burns.

This project will result in the minor modification of the landscape within the project area. The project qualifies as categorically exempt under Exemption Class 4 of the Guidelines for the Implementation to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). This exemption applies to the minor alterations to private and public land, water and vegetation that does not involve the removal of healthy trees. In addition, none of the exceptions for application of a categorical exemption apply to this project.
