Document Description
The Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) approved the Union Carbide Corporation (UCC) Torrance Distribution Facility (Site.) The Site served predominately as a polyethylene and ethylene glycol (anti-freeze) manufacturing facility from 1956 until 1982 when manufacturing operations were discontinued and much of the facility was decommissioned, sold, and redeveloped.
Response actions are necessary due to the presence of arsenic, volatile organic compounds (VOC’s), semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOC’s), and dense non-aqueous phase liquid (DNAPL) within soil vapor, soil, and perched groundwater at levels that exceed regulatory limits beneath the Site. A total of four areas are impacted by arsenic, VOCs, SVOCs, and DNAPL.
