Document Description
The project consists of installation of traffic signals, pedestrian crossing signals, and Americans with Disabilities Act compliant ramps at street comers; improvements to an existing sidewalk including installation of additional sidewalk, curb, gutter, street trees, and street lights; and relocation of fire hydrants and utility poles. The project includes addition of local acceleration/deceleration lanes and left turn lane for improved vehicle and cyclist safety. The project includes the removal of approximately 17 street trees along Sheldon Street as part of the sidewalk repair and one street tree along Wicks Street, which would require separate discretionary approvals. The trees are being removed and replaced along Sheldon Street due to stunted growth and poor health, and the single tree along Wicks is being removed to install a new driveway. Removed trees will be replaced with healthy trees in accordance with City Policy as determine by the Urban Forestry Division of StreetsLA or the Board of Public Works. Project beneficiaries include the public and Sheldon Arleta Park visitors.
