Document Description
The City, in compliance with State housing law, has prepared an update to the Housing Element of the General Plan for the eight-year planning period from June 30, 2020, through April 15, 2029. The Housing Element identifies the City’s housing conditions and needs, establishes the goals, objectives, and policies that are the foundation of the City’s housing strategy, and provides an array of programs to create sustainable, mixed-income neighborhoods across the City. There are no major changes proposed to the goals and policies of the current Housing Element adopted in 2013, and the project proposes no changes to any particular parcel’s zoning or General plan land use designation. The Housing Element assesses the existing and future needs of persons in all economic segments of the City and serves as a tool for decision-makers and the public for understanding and meeting housing needs in La Mesa.
