Document Description
The goal of this project is to design and build a scalable DC-coupled EV charging system that is capable of powering five school buses during normal operation, and a resilience hub during an outage. The recipient will verify and demonstrate reduced CO2 emissions, 10-20 year life-cycle cost savings, improved reliability compared to the standard diesel bus or grid-tied charging solutions, better understand the opportunities and barriers to wider deployment of charging depots with solar and storage, and study how the system can ultimately relax the strain of EV charging on the existing utility infrastructure.
