Document Description
Site Approval application to establish an unmanned, 10 megawatt (MW) battery energy storage system facility utilizing 0.4 acres of a 15-acre parcel to include 14 storage containers to house battery storage racks for lithium batteries with integrated fire suppression systems. The project will connect to PG&E’s transmission grid at the existing Ceres substation located to the north of the site via a new 12.47 kV generating interconnection transmission line (gen-tie) and will receive, store, and discharge electricity to and from the grid. There is an existing trailer and equipment storage yard that will remain on-site. The project will not utilize water services. Storm drainage will be retained on-site. The property is not under a Williamson Act contract.

This project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) per CEQA Guidelines section 15061(b)(3). Section 15061(b)(3) states that “CEQA applies only to projects which have the potential for causing a significant effect on the environment. Where it can be seen with certainty that there is no possibility that the activity in question may have a significant effect on the environment, the activity is not subject to CEQA.” There is no possibility that this project may have a significant effect on the environment and, therefore, the project is not subject to CEQA.
