Scope of Work
On February 3, 2021, Office of Traffic Safety reported a concern of safety at the
intersection of SR 99 with Live Oak Blvd and Encinal Road (Post-mile 35.8) due to an
accident rate of more than four times the statewide average. Immediate action is
required to reduce the accident rate while a planned safety project scheduled to be
constructed in 2024 at this location, is developed.
Caltrans proposes to install a channelizer barrier (see attached plan) to restrict left turn
movements across SR 99 at the intersection with Live Oak Blvd and Encinal Road. The
scope of work also includes installing rumble strips and providing traffic control.
All work is within the Caltrans right-of-way and requires no permitting. The Director’s
Order for emergency funds (attached) was signed April 14, 2021.
