Document Description
The Unit 2 steam turbine-generator, located on the top floor of the ECGS bldg., does not have protection to eliminate a potential fires. U2 STG is a critical source of energy for the IID resource portfolio. A bldg. fire caused by the ignition of lubricating oil in the U2 STG, could potentially cause extensive damage to the turbine-generator, adjacent equipt. and the ECGS bldg., resulting in substantial replacement costs. Thus, with the goal of maximizing the long-term reliability of the U2 STG, a fire suppression system will be installed to protect the assets, eliminate long outages required to repair fire damage and ensure generation continuity.
