Document Description
The project is the transfer of fee title from the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District ("District") to the County of Sonoma. The Property consists of approximately 1,236 acres including the Assessor Parcels listed above and is northeast of Bodega Bay. The property is highly visible from Highway 1, a designated Scenic Corridor. The purpose of the transfer is to provide for public recreation while protecting the property's natural, scenic, and historic resources. Sonoma County Regional Parks Department will develop a master plan prior to any substantial changes to the property or unrestricted public access and the environmental review under CEQA will be conducted as part of the planning process in accordance with Public Resources Code (PRC), Division 13, Chapter 2, §21080.28 (b). In the interim, Regional Parks may implement the Wright Hill Management Plan adopted by the District and take minor actions consonant with (a) protecting sensitive resources and restoring any impacted natural or historic resources on the property such as: repair or replacement of existing facilities; removal of debris, protection of resources, fuel management, and habitat restoration via grazing; and (b) providing interim public access to acquaint the public with the property such as: installing new gates and appropriate signage, and managing vegetation for informal trail purposes. The transfer of the property to allow resource protection and recreation planning will benefit the general public.
