Document Description
The Santa Clara Bridges Substructure Rehab Project (Project) is limited to substructure rehabilitation at four (4) project locations. The Project is located within the Santa Clara Valley Habitat Plan (SCVHP) permit area and subject to applicable measures from the SCVHP will be implemented as part of the Project at the Bodfish Creek and Carnadero Creek locations. General activities at all four (4) locations and site-specific details for individual locations are described in the following section: Prior to the initiation of construction, personnel will install temporary reinforced silt fence and/or temporary high visibility fencing along the border of the work area(s) at each location to protect environmentally sensitive areas as determined by the qualified biologist. The fencing will remain in place throughout the project and will be inspected and maintained until the completion of work at each location. Vegetation and tree removal work will occur during the site preparation period. A temporary creek diversion system (TCDS) will be installed at all four project locations in the creek(s). The TCDS design will be submitted for review and acceptance prior to the installation of the system at each location. General diversion system design will consist of stacked gravel bags over a visqueen layer at the upstream and downstream end of a diversion pipe. The pipe will be of sufficient diameter to accommodate site-specific flow volumes. All disturbed areas will be treated with Caltrans standard erosion control methods during and after construction. Erosion control methods include soil stabilization methods such as coir netting and hydro-seed. All construction related materials including soil stabilization and fencing will be removed after construction is complete. All areas of temporary impact will be restored to match pre-project contours and grades and will be re-vegetated with sitespecific native vegetation. All construction waste will be removed and hauled to the appropriate waste disposal facility.
