Document Description
The Stebbins Cold Canyon Trail Reroute project will reroute approximately 750 feet of hiking trail in the wilderness areas of Stebbins Cold Canyon Reserve. Approximately 750-feet of new hiking trail will be constructed and reroute the existing hiking trail. A 14-foot long railed boardwalk will be installed over a tributary draw to connect the re-routed trail with the existing trail. The remaining new trail length will be traditional earthen hiking trail. Approximately 700 feet of existing trail will be abandoned, including the removal of a degraded wooden stairway, and restored to natural habitat.

This project will be a minor modification to the grading, land condition, and trail area. This project qualifies as categorically exempt under Exemption Class 4 (Minor Alterations to Land) of the Guidelines for the Implementation to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). This exemption applies to alterations in the condition of land, water or vegetation which does not involve the removal of mature healthy trees. In addition, none of the exceptions for application of a categorical exemption apply to this project.
