Document Description
The State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) is a Responsible Agency for the Project. The State Water Board’s Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (SRF) Program is financing the Project. The Project includes three geotechnical borings at 10 to 20 foot depths along the existing Highway 86 for Phases 3 and 4 alignment of the Project to collect soil samples in preparation to replace approximately 13 miles of transmission water main. The borings are for information collection only and will not result in any permanent environmental impacts at the boring site.

The Project will begin in Riverside County at the intersection of Lincoln Street and Highway 86 and extends south into Imperial County where it ends at the eastern end of Diamond Avenue. The proposed borings are located approximately at the intersections of Highway 86 and 84th Avenue, 86th Avenue, and Coombs.

The Project has been determined to meet the requirements of the exemption selected above and will not have a significant impact on water quality. The Project would consist of geotechnical borings for information gathering purposes only related to groundwater levels and soil characteristics such as corrosivity, and would not result in a serious or major disturbance to an environmental resource.
