Document Description
Construction of a 150 MW PV solar energy facility with an integrated, not to exceed 300MW, battery storage system on approximately 604 acres of land located 5.5 miles east of the City of Holtville within the County of Imperial. The Project site is designated and zoned for agricultural and recreation/open space use within the County of Imperial’s Renewable Energy Overlay Zone. The Project includes a ground mounted PV solar power generating system, battery storage system, substation, and switching station. The Electrical energy produced would be conducted through the proposed 230 kilovolt (kV) switching station and delivered to the Imperial Irrigation District’s 230 kV "KN & KS" line via a single overhead gen-tie line 120 feet in height. The Project proposes to utilize either thin film or crystalline solar PV technology modules mounted either on fixed frames or horizontal single-axis tracker systems. The proposed battery energy storage system would be constructed on the Project site and consist of either lithium ion or flow batteries. The batteries would either be housed in storage containers or buildings with a maximum height of 10 feet.
