Document Description
This proposed project involves operation and maintenance of the two seawater intakes, removing two existing fish screens, installing two new fish screens on the seawater intakes, and installing piping to transfer seawater to Humboldt Bay Harbor, Recreation and Conservation District tenants. Phase I of the Project will result in impacts to longfin smelt (Spirinchus thaleichthys) habitat. The project is expected to result in incidental take of longfin smelt, which is designated as a threatened species under the California Endangered Species Act. The ITP referenced above as issued by CDFW authorizes incidental take of species listed under CESA that may occur as a result of Project implementation.

The Project is located on the western shoreline of Humboldt Bay within the city of Samoa at two separate locations, Redwood Marine Terminal II Dock and Red Tank Dock. Both docks are approximately 1 to 1.6 miles southwest of the highway 255 bridge.
