The District proposes to install solar energy arrays on six carport structures (Structures A through F) at Whitney HS. Structures A through F would be installed in the existing parking lot along the school's southern boundary, east of Shoemaker Avenue. The carports would be a minimum of 13-foot high and consist of metal columns and beams supporting array panels. Structures A through D would each have 156 photo-voltaic (PV) modules with direct current (DC) system size of 65.520 kilowatts (kW), 204 PV modules with 85.680 kW, 228 PV modules with 95.760 kW, 258 PV modules with 108.360 kW, respectively, and Structures E and F would each have 306 PV modules with DC system size of128.520 kW, all tilted at a 7-degree angle. Therefore, there would be a combined total of 1,458 PV modules and the total DC system size of 612.360 kW. Approximately 560 feet of conduits would be installed by directional borings from the solar arrays to an existing electrical equipment box to the north adjacent to an existing building. The project would also provide underground conduit for installation of car chargers in the future. However, installation of car chargers require additional funding and would not be installed at this time. The District and general community will benefit from a reduction in energy consumption and reduced energy costs.
