Document Description
The District proposes to install solar energy array on an elevated carport-like structure (Structure A) at Cerritos ES. Structure A would be installed in the southeastern portion of the asphalt play area bordering the playfields and comprised of metal columns and beams supporting array panels. It would be a minimum of 10-foot high and consists of 312 photo-voltaic (PV) modules tilted at a 7-degree angle. Approximately 364 feet of conduits would be installed by directional borings from Structure A to an existing electrical equipment box/pointe of interconnection to the north through paved lots (see Figure 2). The solar system would have the direct current (DC) system size of 130.40 kilowatts (kW). The project would also provide underground conduit for installation of car chargers in the future. However, Installation of car chargers require additional funding and would not be installed at this time. The District and general community will benefit from a reduction in energy consumption and reduced energy costs.

Reasons for Exemption
The project involves the construction of solar energy array on an elevated structure. The proposed solar panels will not result in an increase in student capacity or an expansion of existing use. No off-campus improvements will occur. Existing use of the facility as an elementary school will stay the same under the proposed project. Therefore, the project is exempt from CEQA under Sections 15301, 15303, and 15314. The proposed project was also reviewed for possible exceptions under Section 15300.2 and found that the exceptions do not apply.
