Document Description
The District proposes to install solar energy arrays on two elevated carport-like structure (Structures A and 8) at Carver ES. Two solar energy structures would be constructed, Structure A in the northwestern corner of the existing hardcourts and Structure B in the turf field area, approximately 200 feet north of Structure A (see Figure 2). The solar structures would be a minimum of 10-foot high and would be comprised of metal columns and beams supporting array panels. Structure A would consist of 162 photo-voltaic (PV) modules tilted at a 7-degree angle, and Structure B would consist of 192 PV modules tilted at 7 degrees angle. The solar structures would connect to an existing electrical equipment box/point of interconnection next to school buildings in the front of the campus to the west via approximately 613 feet of underground conduit installed by directional boring to limit disturbance. (see Figure 2). The solar system would have the direct current (DC) system size of 148.68 kilowatts (kW). The project would also provide underground conduit for installation of car chargers in the future. However, Installation of car chargers require additional funding and would not be installed at this time. The District and general community will benefit from a reduction in energy consumption and reduced energy costs.

Reasons for Exemption
The project involves the construction of solar energy arrays on elevated structures. The proposed solar panels will not result in an increase in student capacity or an expansion of existing use. No off-campus improvements will occur. Existing use of the facility as an elementary school will stay the same under the proposed project. Therefore, the project is exempt from CEQA under Sections 15301, 15303, and 15314. The proposed project was also reviewed for possible exceptions under Section 15300.2 and found that the exceptions do not apply.
