Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes to restore the pavement on the mainline and on- and off-ramps of Interstate 5 between post miles 60.10 and 66.16. Mainline work consists of cold planing 0.25 foot of existing asphalt concrete pavement and replacing it with 0.20 foot of hot mixed asphalt and 0.15 foot of rubberized hot mixed asphalt. Additional work includes upgrading guardrail system, installing rumble strips along the inside and outside shoulder, replacing roadside signs, and upgrading/replacing vehicle detection systems. Three existing lighting systems will be replaced: the southbound off-ramp at Shields Avenue, the northbound off-ramp at Nees Avenue and the southbound off-ramp at Nees Avenue. All construction activities will be within the State right-of-way. No additional right-of-way is required.

This project is exempt because it falls under section 15301, existing facilities class 1 (c), and involves no expansion of existing use.
