Document Description
Realign a segment of the Indian Creek Nature Loop Trail to construct a new pedestrian bridge upstream of the current pipe bridge that is removed by November 1st and reinstalled by May 1st every year due to winter precipitation. The new bridge will be permanently installed outside the ordinary high-water mark of Indian Creek, to maintain year-round use of the trail. Work will: • Remove 50 trees under 8” diameter within the realigned trail corridor, to be used on trail construction, access and to reduce fuel loads; • Excavate three (3), 5’ x 5’ pads 24” deep to construct three (3) abutments comprised of locally sourced rock and mortar; • Construct a 100’ long by 5’ wide pedestrian bridge consisting of a 70’ stringer spanning the banks of Indian Creek and a 30’ stringer spanning the low area on the east side of the creek; • Construct 100’ by 3’ of new turnpike trail using locally felled 8” diameter cedar trees, buried approximately 3” deep along the trial border, to direct the existing trail to the new pedestrian bridge; • Construct six (6) puncheons along the new trail and replace one (1) existing puncheon ranging from 8’ to 15’ long and 6” deep using locally sourced cedar trees; • Import approximately 8yds of decomposed granite or gravel for use on puncheons and low laying area; • Slash existing trail to discourage continued use.
