Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is conducting an emergency repair project to address multiple slides that have occurred on SR 96, between post mile (PM) 36.9 and 37.3 in Siskiyou County. The purpose of the project is to prevent the loss or impairment of life, property, and essential services. The slide material will be removed, slope stabilized, and the roadway resurfaced as needed, The catchment area at the toe of the slope will be reestablished.

The project is an emergency repair to a public highway to maintain safe essential travel for the motoring public. A high potential for additional slides remain with every rain event.
