Document Description
Install a new automatic pay machine and two new power sliding gates with keypads at the entrance station to Caswell Memorial State Park, to control access to the park during hours when the kiosk is not staffed. This project will: Automatic Pay Machine (APM): • Form and pour a new APM concrete anchoring pad 3' X 3' X 22" deep; • Power, voice, and data conduit will be routed through the attic of the entry station to the concrete slab; • Excavate a 18" deep x 2' trench from front entrance to the APM pad and install electric and telephone cables will be brought up into the 3" diameter holes; • Excavate three, 30" deep X 12" in diameter post holes and install 80" tall high impact visibly striped 4" galvanized steel fixed posts/bollards in concrete foundations; and • Anchor bolts will be spaced in the pad in accordance to the manufacturer's specifications, 5/8" X 8". Automatic Gate: • Excavate, form, and poor a 12' x 6' x 18" deep concrete support pad and install a 24' x 4' gate across exisiting pavement at the road leading to the day use area; • Excavate a 100' long x 6" wide trench within existing asphalt pavement to pull power and phone line from the kiosk to keypad and gate; and • Install a keypad set 10' in front of the new rolling gate. Lane Expansion: • Grade and compact an 800 square foot area up to 9" in depth and lay 3" of asphalt over 4" of road base to provide a vehicle turnaround area. Signage: • Install a "GATE AHEAD" sign on an existing "Fees Required" signpost. Sign to be maximum 18"x24" and will match existing sign colors.
