Document Description
The Project involves the following targeted treatment types and associated maintenance activities to repair erosion and stabilize the stream channel: vegetation and sediment management, bioengineering treatments, toe rock slope protection (RSP), full RSP, grouted RSP, and upland road drainage improvements. The Project will result in impacts to 2.06 acres of California tiger salamander (Ambystoma californiense) and Alameda whipsnake (Masticophis lateralis euryxanthus) habitat including temporary impacts to 1.46 acres and conversion of 0.60 acres of California tiger salamander and Alameda whipsnake grassland habitat to riparian/wetland. The Project is expected to result in incidental take of California tiger salamander and Alameda whipsnake, which are designated as a threatened species under CESA. The ITP referenced above as issued by CDFW authorizes incidental take of species listed under CESA that may occur as a result of Project implementation.

The Project is located in unincorporated Alameda County south of State Route 84 and east of Interstate 680 in the foothills of the Diablo Range. The Project extends from the head of the Vallecitos Channel where the California Department of Water Resources South Bay Aqueduct emergency culvert outlet is located and extends downstream 7,980 feet at approximately 37.596433, -121.859136.
