- Conduct geotechnical investigations to characterize the subsurface conditions within the embankment along the southern perimeter of Blair Lake, within Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park. Nested Vibrating Wire Piezometers (VWPs) will be installed in the borings to measure pore pressure within the embankment. Work includes: Conduct exploratory boring at two (2) sites within the embankment along Blair Lake o Use a track mounted drilling rig to advance two (2) 8-inch diameter mud rotary boreholes up to depths of 60-feet below the existing ground surface; o Soil cuttings will be disposed of off-site by a licensed waste disposal firm; o Install two (2) nested VWPs at various depths in each of the two (2) borings; o Install a flush-mount, traffic-rated utility vaults at each of the boring sites, at ground level. Work will not adversely affect natural or cultural resources.
