- Document Description
- This project includes the emergency repair of a significant washout on the utility road/walking trail #4 located behind restroom 11 at San Onofre Bluffs Campground. The purpose is to remove a significant health and safety hazard to the general public visiting the campground along with State Park staff. The project will consist of backfilling the washout with good compatible material to a depth of 4 feet from the top. Then repair to a 6 inch ABS leech field line exposed and damaged from the washout will be completed. The washout will then be filed completely filled with a tail wall being constructed that will be sloped at 35 to 45 degrees. Tail wall will then be covered with rip rap that will be compacted into the slope. At the end of the culvert located adjacent to the washout, a bowl will be dug out approximately three feet deep, 10 feet wide, and 10 feet long. The bowl will be filled with rip rap as to create an energy dissipater to prevent future washouts. A swale will be graded from the end of the bowl to the tail wall and the entire swale will be armored with 6 inch minus rock at a depth of 18 inches. The armored area will then be covered with class II road base to provide a smooth driving and walking surface
