- Caltrans plans to issue a highway encroachment permit to Frontier Communications for a fiber optic cable connection that will require trenching and boring under US Hwy 395. The project proposes to place approximately 7,431 feet of new fiber optic cable on 35 existing poles and approximately 213 feet of new buried conduit. Aerial cables will be placed by accessing poles from the roadway using a bucket truck. A horizontal directional drill will be used to install the buried cable. Approximately 276 square feet of soil disturbance will occur at 3 bore pits and 1 handhole.
