Document Description
Southern Field Division (SFD) staff will exercise Wasteway slide gates at Devil Canyon Second Afterbay leading to the full dewatering of the afterbay and minor inundation downstream of the Wasteway Energy Dissipator Structure. The downstream channel will be surveyed prior to exercise with SFD staff located at access points to the channel to prevent public from entering channel. After the gate exercise, the Wasteway tunnel will be inspected for joint damage.

The State Water Project provides significant and important services to many Californians. This project is exempt because it involves routine maintenance activities. This project will not result in impacts to special status species or habitat. Because this activity can be implemented without any significant environmental impacts, the Categorical Exemption Class 1 will be used for CEQA compliance.
