The project is a non-permanent transfer, through December 31, 2027, of up to 66,000 acre-feet per year of Tulare Lake Basin Water Storage District’s (TLBWSD) State Water Project Table A Water to Kern County Water Agency (KCWA), on behalf of landowner J.G. Boswell Company, who farms in both TLBWSD’s and KCWA’s service areas. TLBWSD and KCWA are State Water Project (SWP) Contractors with long-term water supply contracts with the California Department of Water Resources (DWR), which contracts allow for transfers of SWP water between SWP Contractors subject to DWR approval.
