Document Description
The project is limited to the installation of approximately 1.4 miles of three 1.25-inch diameter high density polyethylene conduits containing new underground fiber optic lines underneath North Market Boulevard, Arena Boulevard, and Truxel Road. A section of the project along Arena Boulevard would run underneath the East Drainage Canal. Conduits will be installed using a directional drilling system that is capable of
horizontally drilling a pilot hole between underground access vault locations without disturbing the ground surface between access vaults. After the pilot hole is drilled, the new conduit will be drawn through the hole and later fiber optic cable is drawn through the conduit. No surface ground disturbance is required between access vaults. Where the project would cross the East Drainage Canal, the directional bore path would be
15 feet below the channel and run in between bridge columns. No impacts to the East Drainage Canal or associated habitat are anticipated.
