Document Description
Collect soil samples and install groundwater monitoring wells near the maintenance shop in Samuel P. Taylor State Park to assess soil and groundwater for potential contamination. Work will install three permanent soil gas wells and three groundwater wells for periodic sample collection and monitoring. For the groundwater wells, work will: • Drill with an eight-inch diameter hollow-stem auger to a depth of 20 feet below the ground surface and collect the soil for sampling; • Install wells consisting of 2-inch diameter PVC pipe with slots and filter materials; and • Install a flush-mounted utility manhole cover with locking lid over the wells. For the soil gas wells, work will: • Drill with a four-inch diameter hollow-stem auger to a depth of 15.5 feet below the ground surface; • Install three soil gas probes in each well; • Collect soil samples; • Install well casings consisting of ¼-inch diameter Teflon tubing and filter materials; and • Install a flush-mounted utility manhole cover with locking lid over the wells.
