Document Description
The project consists of the construction of an approximately 21,250-square-foot animal shelter on a four-acre portion of vacant, undeveloped County-owned land within the boundaries of the City of Santee. The project includes the construction of a single shelter building and auxiliary barn structures, which would feature a secured and open courtyard, an outdoor livestock area, activity yards, a secured staff parking lot, and a public parking lot. Multiple outdoor activity yards are included and would be bounded by 8-foot-long fences constructed from Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) walls and solid metal panel fencing. Inside the shelter, there would be designated areas for an animal clinic, and administration and adoption services, including a small community room. The proposed project also encompasses off-site improvements, such as the addition of a serpentine sidewalk and landscape enhancements along the Riverview Parkway frontage. A 0.08-acre area is included in the project footprint to allow for the necessary off-site driveway improvement.
