Document Description
Frontier Communications is proposing to install two new poles and aerial cable within the California Department of Transportation’s (Caltrans) right-of-way along State Route 44 in Shasta County at post mile 35.924. As part of the proposed improvements, a 35-foot-tall class 5 pole would be installed to the north and south of the roadway between Airport Way and KOA Road. In addition, approximately 279 lineal feet of aerial cable would be attached to these poles at a height of approximately 28 feet above the roadway. Caltrans will issue an encroachment permit (0220-6UC-0392) to authorize improvements proposed within the right-of-way.

Caltrans determined that the project is categorically exempt in accordance with Section 15303 (New Construction or Conversion of Small Structures) Class 3—Construction and location of limited numbers of new, small facilities or structures; installation of small new equipment and facilities in small structures; and the conversion of existing small structures from one use to another where only minor modifications are made in the exterior of the structure. The project would not have a significant effect on the environment.
