Document Description
The proposed project will clean out and repair a damaged drainage swale and stabilize its adjacent slopes to prevent further sedimentation into the storm drain system that ultimately feeds into the Ballona Creek. The proposed Project will also reduce the number of existing nonnative eucalyptus trees; increase the number of native plants to improve the wildlife habitat and protect the slopes from erosion; enhance existing native habitat; update existing interpretive panels; and make improvements to the existing irrigation system to promote efficiency and water savings.

Reasons for Exemption
The proposed project is categorically exempt under CEQA according to sections 15301 (d)(h), 15303 (e), and 15304 (b), because the project provides for restoration or rehabilitation of deteriorated or damaged structures, facilities, or mechanical equipment to meet current standards of public health and safety; maintenance of existing landscaping; construction of small new facilities; and installation of new landscaping and will not involve the removal of healthy, mature, and scenic trees. In addition, based on the proposed Project records, it will comply with all applicable regulations, and it is not in a sensitive environment, and there are no cumulative impacts, unusual circumstances, damage to scenic highways, listing on hazardous waste site lists compiled pursuant to Government Code section 65962.5, or indications that it may cause a substantial adverse change in the significance of a historical resource that would make the exemption inapplicable.
