Document Description
To repair approximately 70 fiber optic vaults because the covers and rings of the vaults have failed and need to be replaced. There will be no grading, however, at some locations where existing vaults must be replaced in kind, the maximum depth is 5.5’, and at most locations (90% or more), the depth of excavation is no more than 30”. Repair of the fiber optic vaults will include the replacement of the concrete encasement, manhole cover, and top portion of the vault. The soil disturbance will occur about a foot around the top portion of the vault, and about 6” from the bottom of the concrete encasement to the connection point of the top and bottom portions of the vault. The project site is located in San Diego County on many different routes, including I-5, I-8, I-15, I-805, SR-75, SR-94, and SR-163.
