Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Class 32, Infill Development, section 15332
Reasons for Exemption
In 2000, the CSU Board of Trustees approved the SDSU Campus Master Plan 2000 and certified the related Environmental Impact Report. The approved Master Plan included a 40,000 square foot Performing Arts Complex. Since that prior approval, SDSU has determined to substantially downsize the planned space and now proposes to build in its place the approximately 18,000 square foot Second Stage Theater and Amenities Building. The proposed project is exempt under the Class 32, Infill Development, exemption because the proposed project: would be consistent with the current SDSU Campus Master Plan; would be constructed on a site less than five acres in size, with no biological resource value; would not result in significant traffic, noise, air quality, or water quality impacts; and, would be adequately served by all required utilities and services. This determination is based on the information and analysis presented in the "SDSU Second Stage Theater Notice of Exemption Additional Documentation" on file with SDSU Planning, Design, and Construction, and available for public review at https://bfa.sdsu.edu/campus/facilities/planning/eir.
