Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Streambed Alteration Agreement number EPIMS-STA-13719-R4, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the Project Applicant, Tuolumne River Conservancy, Inc. The Project includes activities related to restoration within properties totaling 189.5 acres containing the area of Tuolumne River Miles 43.5 to 44.5. The area was previously damaged from gold mining and construction of upstream dams, and the Project is intended to reconnect flows to areas that have been altered and to enhance habitats for fisheries. Activities will consist of scaling surfaces adjacent to the main river channel to reconnect the river to floodplain areas; creating low-gradient riffles by redistributing the current elevation drop to a more natural pool riffle morphology; and constructing low-flow side channels and floodplain benches.
