The proposed project consists of minor regrading and replacement of the existing turf of the sports fields at Silver Valley High School. The existing football field turf will be graded and replaced with new grass and the surrounding track will be resurfaced with new track mix. Similarly, the baseball and softball fields will receive minor regrading, the grass will be replaced and new base pegs, home plates and pitching rubbers will be installed.

Reasons for Exemption
The project involves minor grading and replacement of existing turf on the school’s sports fields. The existing grass fields will be resurfaced with new grass along with the resurfacing of a track and installation of new baseball and softball equipment. The project will not involve the removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees. No new building construction will occur. No expansion of existing school capacity or changes in facility use would occur; therefore, the project is exempt from CEQA under Section 15304. The proposed project was also reviewed for possible exceptions under Section 15300.2 and found that the exceptions do not apply.
