Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes to rehab the American River Bridge. The project would remove and replace the existing concrete deck as well as the steel girder post-tensioning systems in spans 1 & 2, modify existing soundwall, install sheet piling around piers for scour mitigation, construct concrete catcher blocks, widen the bridge to accommodate traffic during construction, add a Class I bike/pedestrian path, and plan for future transportation needs on SR 51. The Addendum evaluated floating work platforms (barges), in lieu of the original trestle, that would be used to facilitate construction activities within the American River. The State Lands Commission action is an approval of a Right-of-Way Map as submitted by the California Department of Transportation pursuant to section 101.5 of the Streets and Highways Code and as authorized by section 6210.3 of the Public Resources Code.
