Document Description
Abby Street pavement between Divisadero Street and Olive Avenue is in a state of disrepair. The proposed asphalt overlay project will correct the existing deteriorated pavement condition and increase the life of the pavement while providing a smooth riding surface for motorists at a reasonable cost. Upgrading the curb ramps within project limits to current standards are in the scope of this project.

Reasons for Exemption
Staff has performed an environmental assessment of this project and has determined that it falls within the Categorical Exemption set forth in CEQA Guidelines Section 15301(c) (existing facilities), which exempts the repair, maintenance, or minor alteration of existing structures or facilities, which includes existing streets, pavement, sidewalk and gutters, and no further expansion of existing use, because the project includes the maintenance and/or upgrade of an existing surface pavements, crosswalks, ADA curb access, signage, signal loop detectors and pavement striping. Furthermore, Staff has determined that none of the exceptions to Categorical Exemptions set forth in the CEQA Guidelines, Section 15300.2 apply to this project.
