Document Description
The Department of Water Resources (DWR) San Joaquin Field Division (SJFD) will shut down and dewater specific areas of the California Aqueduct coastal branch, in order to safely perform various maintenance activities (electrical, mechanical, corrosion protection, inspection, and cleaning). This yearly work is called the Coastal Outage. For the 2020 Coastal Outage, the forebays for DEPP, BLPP, and POPP will be dewatered. Water from DEPP will be discharged into a nearby sediment basin. Water from BLPP and POPP will be discharged into an adjacent natural drainage. The 2020 Coastal Outage will begin in early to mid-October and last until the end of November. Dewatering activities will take approximately 14 days to complete. The project benefits the public and private sector, which depends on the California Aqueduct for water delivery.
