Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2020-0076-R5 (Agreement), pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, The Project for Resilient Communities (TPRC) represented by Patrick McElroy. The project consists of the maintenance, monitoring, and subsequent removal of six debris flow nets at the creek locations mentioned above. These nets were installed across the creeks to mitigate the threat of large and destructive debris flows in response to the 2018 Thomas Fire and subsequent debris flows. Maintenance and monitoring activities will ensure the nets do not become barriers to fish or wildlife passage while they are in place. Monitoring activities will include physical monthly inspections during dry seasons, 48-hour inspections after storms, camera monitoring every two weeks to begin with, and annual freeboard inspections. Maintenance activities include any repairs that need to be made to the nets, removal of accumulated debris, and re-establishment of low flow channels.
