Document Description
The existing Hemphill Diversion Structure is substantially deteriorated, and the structure continues to obstruct the passage of anadromous fish species under most flow conditions. Additionally, the existing diversion to Hemphill Canal is unscreened and does not exclude fish from entering the canal. The removal of the diversion structure is necessary to allow for fish migration to occur year-round within Auburn Ravine. NID proposes to remove the existing Hemphill Diversion Structure and the Hemphill Canal inlet structure. The proposed project will construct a roughened channel (rough-rock ramp), install bank stabilization and erosion control measures within Auburn Ravine, construct a modified inlet structure incorporating a cone fish screen on Hemphill Canal, and make modifications to the canal.
