Document Description
Construction of one new beach access stairway over the existing rock revetment that spans the southern edge of the Malibu Pier parking lot and major repair of an existing stairway adjacent to Malibu Pier. Stairways will provided much needed beach access at an attractive tourist destination in Malibu. This project is being done to comply with Consent Cease and Desist Order CCC-16-CD-04 and Consent Administrative Civil Penalty CCC-16-AP-02

Project is exempt under repairs to an existing stairway with no expansion of use and rehabilitation of a damaged structure to meet current standards of public health & safety; replacement/reconstruction where the new stairway is in the same site and has the same purpose as the stairway replaced; new construction of a stairway, a small structure that is accessory to the public pier and parking lot; and is part of an enforcement action by a regulatory agency, the Coastal Commission, for compliance with the Coastal Act.
