Document Description
The project will result in the placement of asphalt concrete overlays, traffic striping, and shoulder backing on Fresno County Roads in ten different locations (see attached project list). The stretches of road to be improved by this project are showing signs of distress such as alligator, block, longitudinal, and transverse cracking, and this project will extend the useful life the of these county roads.

The project site is approximately 5 linear miles of McCall Avenue between Shaw Avenue and SR 180.

Reasons for Exemption
The project meets the criteria for a Class 1 exemption according to Section 15301, which includes the repair, maintenance, and minor alteration of existing structures, to include existing highways and streets. No cumulative impacts regarding air quality, traffic, or population growth were identified. The project runs through several flood zones (FEMA) and wetlands (USFW) but is limited to existing roadways and is not expected to have any effect on the flood plain or wetlands. One hazardous waste site is located adjacent to the roadway; however, the scope of the project is limited to existing roadways and will have no effect. Additionally, no scenic resources (Caltrans), or historic resources will be affected.
