Document Description
The Sonoma County Department of Transportation and Public Works is proposing to rehabilitate pavement on a 4.83 mile segment of River Road (Post Mile 19.77 to 24.60), northwest of the city of Santa Rosa. The project will begin at the intersection of River Road and Trenton-Healdsburg Road and ending just west of the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) rightof- way. The scope of the proposed construction work will include conform grinding, removal and replacement of failed asphalt in localized areas ( dig outs), installation of thermoplastic striping and markings, installation of bicycle signage, shoulder backing, guard rail improvements, drainage improvements (including culvert lining), and all associated traffic control. Following the repair of the existing asphalt pavement, the entire travel way ( edge line to edge line) will be paved with an asphalt concrete overlay. In addition, the project includes centerline rumble strip that is 12 inches wide to help prevent head on collisions. The rumble strips would be milled by machine with a rotary cutting head into the new asphalt concrete overlay to create a smooth, uniform, and consistent grooves into the pavement. Where adequate width is present, -River Road will be striped for Class 2 bicycle lanes. See NOE for full details.
