Document Description
The project consists of the replacement of the existing transmission line protection relays with modern SEL multifunction relays to provide faster and higher accuracy fault detection and enable the gathering of syncrophaser1 fault data in the event of a line fault. The sites for the relay line upgrades are: Mall to Calexico substations (ED Line), Heber Geo to Perry substations (P Line) and Avenue 58 to Coachella Switching Station substations (R Line).

Coachella Switching Station: The Coachella Switching Station is located approximately 600 ft. south of the intersection of Highway 111 (Grapefruit Blvd.) and 9th Street (Shady Lane borders the west side of the site) in Coachella, CA (33°40'35.7"N 116°10'20.9"W).
Avenue 58 Substation: The Avenue 58 Substation is located approximately 1000 ft. north of Avenue 58 & ¼ mile west of Monroe Street, southeast of La Quinta, CA (33°37'50.5"N 116°14'23.1"W).
Mall Substation: The Mall Substation is located approximately 125 ft. east of S. Dogwood Road and approximately ½ mile south of Danenberg Road, southeast of El Centro, CA (32°45'33.6"N 115°32'04.3"W).
Calexico Substation: The Calexico Substation is located on the northwest corner of 4th Street & Emerson Street in Calexico, CA (32°40'08.4"N 115°30'00.9"W).
Perry Substation: The Perry Substation is located approximately 380 ft. south of Zapata Street and approximately 384 ft. west of Alameda Street, ½ mile east of Highway 111, in Calexico, CA (32°41'13.7"N 115°29'27.0"W).
Heber Geo Substation: The Heber Geo Substation is located on the west side of Pitzer Road and approximately 1,850 ft. north of Jasper Road in the township of Heber, CA (32°42'52.1"N 115°31'03.0"W).
