Document Description
The project includes amendments to Titles 2, 15, and 30 of the Glendale Municipal Code (GMC) related to historic preservation-related Code sections. The amendments provide stronger and more comprehensive deterrents to discourage illegal demolitions creating a robust deterrence policy and provide clarity, consistency, and functionality to the GMC in dealing with historic resources by expanding the types of properties covered, revising and adding definitions, and clarifying the designation, design review, environmental review, and demolition clearance processes.

The project is exempt from CEQA as a Class 5 (“Minor Alterations in Land Use Limitations”) and as a Class 8 (“Actions by Regulatory Agencies for Protection of the Environment”) categorical exemptions pursuant to sections 15305 and 15308 of the State CEQA Guidelines. The ordinance implements minor code changes to GMC Tile 2, 15 and 30 that clarify and enhance the City’s designation, design review, environmental review, and demolition clearance processes related to historical resources. As such, the adoption of the ordinance is exempt from CEQA.
