Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes to replace the Santa Maria River Bridge (Bridge Number 49-0042) on State Route 1 at the border of San Luis Obispo County and Santa Barbara County, north of the city Guadalupe. A new bridge structure would be built next to the existing bridge, and the existing bridge would be removed when construction of the new bridge structure is completed. The new bridge structure would conform to current Caltrans design and safety standards. The project would also realign the bridge approaches, replant native vegetation and relocate utilities. The project will require temporary traffic control to ensure State Route 1 is accessible to the public during construction.
